Tattoo stencil app for PC and Mac
Stencil AI runs in the browser on a Windows PC, a Mac or a Chromebook, with nothing to install. You get the same three conversion styles as the phone apps, the retouch editor, and a print layout in real millimetres that prints at true size on whatever printer the computer uses, thermal stencil printers included. It is the same account as the iPhone, iPad and Android apps.
Stencil tools that run on a PC
| Tool | On a Windows PC? | What it is |
|---|---|---|
| Stencil AI | Yes, in the browser | Converter · Outline, Standard, Hatching · retouch · true-size print to any printer |
| Free online converters | Yes, in the browser | A threshold filter: fine for bold line art, loses shading, no true-size print |
| Photoshop or GIMP | Yes, desktop programs | Full manual control, and the slowest route to a stencil |
| Ghostline | No | iPhone and iPad only |
| Stencify | No | iPhone, iPad and Android |
| TattooStencilPro | No | iPad and iPhone only ("iPad-first" per its listing) |
| Procreate | No | iPad only; it is a drawing app, not a converter |
The dedicated stencil apps are phone and tablet apps. Their platforms are from each app's own store listing, last checked between 2026-09-25 and 2026-10-01. On a Mac or a Chromebook, Stencil AI is the same website.

Printing from a PC or Mac
The print sheet hands the page to the browser's own print dialog, so the stencil prints at the width you typed on any printer the computer can use. Leave the dialog's scale at 100%.
- Thermal stencil printers installed on the computer. Set the printer type to Thermal and the stencil gets a tone curve tuned for thermal transfer, which you can fine-tune with Curves.
- Inkjet or laser printers on plain paper for a size check, or an inkjet with stencil ink and inkjet transfer paper.
- Big pieces: a design larger than one sheet splits across a grid of sheets, each with an overlap strip and trim lines, so they tape together without measuring.
- Size tests: add the same design at several sizes on one sheet.
- Warp the stencil to the curve of a shoulder or forearm before printing.
- PDF or 300-DPI JPG when the printer is on another machine.
Phone and computer, one account
- One gallery. Stencils you made in the app are in the web gallery when you sign in with the same Google or email account.
- Edits travel with the stencil. Retouch changes and the saved print layout are stored with the stencil, so it opens the same on the other device.
- One plan. Plans and credits belong to the account, not the device.
- What stays on the phone: LiDAR measuring of the placement on iPhone Pro models, and Tattoo Mode at the chair.
Common questions
Is there a tattoo stencil app for PC?
Yes. Stencil AI runs in the browser on Windows, Mac and Chromebook at stencilai.app, with three conversion styles (Outline, Standard, Hatching), a retouch editor and true-to-size printing. Ghostline, TattooStencilPro and Stencify are phone and tablet apps, and Procreate is iPad only.
Can I print tattoo stencils from my computer?
Yes. The stencil is laid out in millimetres and printed through the browser's own print dialog, so it comes out at the width you set on any printer the computer can use, including a thermal stencil printer with its driver installed. Leave the print scale at 100%. You can also save the sheet as a PDF or a 300-DPI JPG.
Do I need to download a program?
No. Stencil AI runs in the browser, so there is nothing to install on Windows or macOS. Open stencilai.app, sign in, and upload a reference.
Is it the same account as the phone app?
Yes, if you sign in the same way. The website takes Google or email sign-in; with the same login, your gallery, retouch edits, saved print layouts, plan and credits are the same on the phone and the computer. Sign in with Apple is not on the website yet, so an account made with Apple in the iPhone app does not open there.
Can I use a drawing tablet?
Yes. The retouch brush reads pen pressure from drawing tablets and pen displays that report it to the browser. With a mouse, the speed of the stroke shapes the line instead.
